A Note from Angela
“I am just like you, a human that wants to live & thrive at life the best & the most she can while helping/inspiring/empowering others in the best way we can. I work & I love my work but life has some pretty gnarly curveballs at times & the weirdest timing sometimes & sometimes that combination, not you or us, just makes our means come up short. Thank you for donating & helping out. I sincerely appreciate it! It’s a huge tender mercy, even a little donation is a twinkle star in the sky of hope I see above us.”

HOLD ON!...
Why am I sending money to a personal account?
TLDR:
• The FaceOut Project is a grassroots collective that does not have non-profit status
• We'd like to be able to measure our impact without burdening the recipient with accounting work
• Jenny Kattlove is a trusted member of the Activism Hub who will act with transparency and accountability
• Websites like GoFundMe charge fees, which reduce the amount donated
Read more about the project below!

In the summer of 2025, members of The FaceOut Project Activism Hub expressed our desire to demonstrate our solidarity with families and individuals in the U.S. who are being directly harmed by the inhumane policy decisions of the U.S.'s federal elected leaders. Right now, immigrant communities and other communities of color are being terrorized and kidnapped by masked individuals identifying as federal agents. And the president and the recently signed federal budget that includes massive cuts to health care, food assistance, education, and other vital services as well as other devastating policies that will disproportionately hurt the country's most vulnerable residents. And of course, many members of the Facial Difference (FD) community are suffering as a result of these policies.
One way we--as members of the facial difference community--are protesting these policies and supporting individuals and families directly hurt by them is engaging in activism via mutual aid through the development of a Solidarity Fund. The goal is to materially support communities who are experiencing disproportionate harm while demonstrating our (meaning the facial difference community) solidarity with other marginalized groups. As a result, we join others in the ultimate goal of collective liberation.
How It Works
We collect money from members of the facial difference community and our allies and deposit into the Solidarity Fund. This is a pay as and when you can. Many members of our community cannot contribute or can only contribute a small amount. This is more than okay! This is why we are doing this together; we are a community, and we present the Fund as stemming from this community, regardless of how much any one member contributes. We decide together how to disperse these funds on a monthly basis.
Deciding on a Recipient
Each month we will choose a different individual, family, collective, or organization to support. We are currently collecting the names of possible recipients here. Please add your suggestions, but be sure to consider those who are directly impacted by the current federal government’s policies.
At the beginning of each month, we will send a survey via email to members to vote on a new recipient. We will also use the first monthly Hub meeting to discuss (as possible). Depending on recipients’ needs, monies will be dispersed either incrementally or in one lump sum on the 15th of every month. The recipient will receive a note that the contribution was made by The FaceOut Project Solidarity Fund.
We will announce the recipient in an email and post it on this page.

Why are we using a member's personal account?
Most mutual aid efforts are run by individuals and use informal methods of collecting and disbursing aid. And, as many of you know, The FaceOut Project does not yet have its own nonprofit status. We are simply a group of volunteers. Therefore, we have no formal way of collecting donations.
We chose not to use GoFundMe or another fund-collection entity because of fees. We want all proceeds to go directly to the recipient.
Mutual aid is premised on trust. That said, Jenny will record money collected and disbursed here. All members of The FaceOut Project have access to this document. If you do not, please email Sora at faceoutproject@gmail.com
What's Next?!
This is an evolving project. Together, we will assess its value and how it’s working and make adjustments accordingly. We are doing this together, and all members should feel ownership and have decision-making power, regardless of ability to financially contribute.
